THE ANNUAL GATHERING OF FANS OF
OLD ROCK 'N ROLL AT THE SURF
BALLROOM IN CLEAR LAKE,
IOWA CONTINUES!

Buddy Holly's Legacy:  Music That Cannot Possibly Die.

Official information about this yearly event is found here on the Surf Ballroom website.  Photos from some of the recent events follow, and some day I should finish 2009 and catch up to the present:

Also on this site are some photos from a special show:  The last performance (Jan. 30, 2002) of the all-star Rock & Roll Dance Party Tour 2002 which commemorated Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, the Big Bopper, pilot Roger Peterson and Darrel Hein, former manager of the Surf Ballroom. This presentation was entirely independent from the Winter Dance Party 2002 which ran later in the week.

Some Good Links:

Probably no one has promoted the music of
Buddy Holly, the Crickets and the West
Texas musical legacy more than the late
Bill Griggs who passed away on March 29,
2011. Recognition of his extraordinary
efforts has led to his induction into the
Buddy Holly/West Texas Walk of Fame
in Lubbock. Read the story here.
